Universities offer different subjects, but some are more specialized and they call themselves technical universities (TU) or colleges of education. Some universities even focus only on one subject area.

UNIVERSITIES OF APPLIED SCIENCES:

Universities of applied sciences focuses more on practice. They have a practice-oriented approach to academics that put more effort into professional application than just theory. The field of subject ranges from technology, economic, social work or even media. In the practical phase, their students will undergo work placement, entire practical semesters, and longer project phases.

COLLEGE OF ART AND MUSIC

These institutions train musicians, architects, fine artists and designers. You are required to have a specific talent which applicants must demonstrate in an entrance examination. Exceptionally talented students may sometimes also be admitted without a qualification for admission to higher education.

UNIVERSITIES OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATION

A combination of academic studies with vocational training or practical phases in a company is the main product of these institutions. This dual study program may be an interesting path for people who prefer to learn practically and start their career right away.
